About
Kimberly Buikema is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with an approved and active Registered Yoga School (RYS).
She is also a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher (RCYT). Kim started practicing yoga regularly in 2002, and completed her 200-hour Yoga Teaching Certification under the instruction of Adi Amar and Angela Tong at the Teton Yoga Shala in Jackson Hole, WY in 2012. Since then, she has been teaching yoga to children, teens, and adults in the UK and the US. Kim enjoys teaching yoga both in and out of studio settings. Having come from a career in secondary school teaching, Kim particularly enjoys teaching yoga to teenagers and school teachers. She hopes to continue to teach yoga in schools and aspires to bring yoga to those who might not otherwise get the chance to practice it, including at-risk teens. Alongside her adult and children's yoga training, Kim has taken trainings in yoga for teens and yoga for children and adults with special needs. In 2014, she trained with James Fox, founder of the Prison Yoga Project to teach trauma-sensitive yoga both in and out of prisons. She has also completed a yoga-informed psychotherapy training and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Kim practices yoga and meditation daily. She is also currently pursuing an MFA in Integrated Media Arts at Hunter College (CUNY) in New York City.
