About
Kirsten Shabanowitz has a passion for deepening connections and offering space for others to connect with themselves.
She was introduced to yoga in while suffering from a knee injury and was empowered to learn that every body can practice yoga. This initial realization shapes the way she teaches today Kirsten has practiced yoga consistently since and felt called to complete her 200 hour teacher training in 2021. She has since become certified in teaching Meditation, Pranayama, Postnatal Yoga, and completed her 300 hour teacher training in 2024 with Susanna Barkataki and Ignite Wellness Institute. Kirsten is so grateful to her teachers and mentors who continue to compassionately share knowledge so she can offer safe and supportive spaces for community and connection to be cultivated both on and off the mat. By deepening her understanding of this ancient practice Kirsten believes there is no such thing as being bad at yoga. "Yoga is a practice of stilling the fluctuations of the mind" - Yoga Sutras of Patanjali .Her goal is to not only invite you into an asana practice but also how to apply yoga to your daily life in a way that makes sense for you Whether you are moving meditating breathing journaling or getting out in nature it is all connected and can provide our minds with a sense of calm and clarity through regular practice and awareness. Each practice and practitioner inspires Kirsten to be mindfully present and to maintain a beginners mindset continuously learning and teaching cohesively In her classes shell invite you to slow down get curious and move in a way that serves your body which may be different today than it was yesterday. When shes not teaching at a local studio or library, you will find Kirsten connecting to nature on hikes with her family and yellow lab or gardening in her backyard. She is also an avid reader, volunteers with a local youth resiliency and suicide prevention organization named the Ryan Bartel Foundation, and makes plenty of space for being a mom to two beings who are her greatest gifts and greatest teachers.
