About
Kirsten Voris facilitates Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), an evidence-based intervention for trauma developed by David Emerson and leaders in the field of trauma.
She also co-created the Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Deck for Kids (North Atlantic Books). Based on TCTSY methodology and practice, the Deck is a tool for adults working with kids (aged 3-12) who have survived bewildering and upsetting events. In her classes Kirsten provides opportunities to make choices about moving or not moving your body and space to notice sensations that may come through your body as you practice. To bolster presence, there is no music played in class. To provide a sense of safety, Kirsten remains on her mat as she teaches and does not offer physical assists or verbal correction. Group classes are offered as a closed series. Kirsten works with private students and also facilitates Yin Yoga. Through yoga Kirsten learned to feel and respond to her body. Sometimes her body craves stillness sometimes it doesn’t. Kirsten credits yoga for helping her stay present long enough to figure this out. Now, she can practice stillness, body and mind. When it’s appropriate. Creating the safety and opportunity for others to experience this is her mission.
