TEACHING STYLE: Kristen’s classes weave together anatomical and energetic inquiry, mindful breathing and somatic sensing as a means to release tension and support the body's intelligence and ability to balance. Her classes blend insights from eastern wisdoms like Yoga, Buddhism and Traditional Chinese Medicine, along with understanding from the western sciences of anatomy and neuroscience. They are gentle, slow, inquisitive and very prop-friendly. Kristen teaches group classes & privates. BACKGROUND: Kristen discovered yoga asana 18+ years ago when she was given a mat and an Ashtanga DVD for her 18th birthday. In college, her studies in psychology and philosophy, along with her personal experience of receiving mindfulness-based therapy for an eating disorder, overlapped to set her on a lifelong yogic journey. Since then she’s completed two 200hr teacher trainings, has a 300hr certification with MindBody Centering Yoga (MBCY), mentored students in the 200hr MBCY teacher training, completed the iRest Level 1 teacher training and is pursuing another 500hr+ certification with Yoga Medicine. Kristen also expresses her love for yoga and sustainability through her small business Bolstered, where she creates beautiful and upcycled yoga props.
