Lauren holds a BS in Human Nutrition Foods and Exercise from Virginia Tech and earned her RYT- at In Balance Yoga Studio in Blacksburg VA in November A forever learner she will be attending medical school in July with the goal of becoming an integrative health family physician Lauren approaches yoga through the lens of Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha—yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind In her classes Lauren honors the historical and cultural roots of yoga weaving in elements from the Eight Limbs of Patanjali to nurture both body and mind She believes deeply in the inclusivity of yoga and strives to make all poses accessible to every student regardless of experience or background Her teaching fosters a space of bodily and mental curiosity encouraging students to cultivate presence while also allowing them the time and space to process their individual needs at their own pace She incorporates hands-on assists—not as corrections but as gentle healing tools to help students connect more authentically with their bodies Laurens dedication to accessibility was strengthened through her work as an undergraduate research assistant in the PARCI Lab under Dr Samantha Harden where she studied access to yoga in underrepresented communities including rural populations people of color and larger-bodied individuals Beyond the studio Lauren finds joy in connecting with others being in nature and exploring new cultures Her passion for traveling stems from the deep fulfillment she feels when meeting people from all walks of life and learning from their perspectives and traditions.
