About
Laurie first started taking yoga classes over 15 years ago to deal with injuries and physical issues she had noticed from riding horses (and falling off horses).
The deep connection she felt to something greater than herself was what kept her coming back. She started teaching in September of 2020 shortly after receiving her RYT 200 hour teacher training through Asheville Yoga Center. She completed her coursework for her RYT 500 Spring of 2023. Teachers that have inspired Laurie often come from the Anusara tradition of yoga and include Joe Taft, Deirdre Smith-Gilmer, Doug Keller, and Donna Marie Vigilante. Laurie retired from the Knox County School System in 2019 after 30 years as an educational audiologist, supporting children with hearing issues, and working with their families, teachers, and administrators. Those many years gave her experience working with people from all walks of life and taught her to persevere to achieve goals and be resourceful. Laurie feels that yoga should be accessible to every BODY and loves to teach people new to yoga, guiding them towards positive experiences and inspiring them to practice on their own. She enjoys weaving a bit of storytelling, anatomy, alignment, humor, and a little music into her classes to inspire people to take things off the mat and home with them to put into use in their daily lives.
