About
Layla discovered yoga after stepping onto the mat as a single mama.
Captivated by the transformative qualities of the ancient practice, she began studying yoga in depth in 2004. She has also studied the clinical applications of aromatherapy, mind/body and energy work, Ayurveda, meditation and mindfulness-based stress reduction. Currently, she is a graduate student studying mental health and addiction counseling and will specifically do research and work with survivors of trauma. Additionally, Layla has been a Reiki Level 2 practitioner since 2007. She believes strongly in making yoga accessible for all populations and is inspired by the Prison Yoga Project, Off the Mat, Into the World and the Veterans Yoga Project. She teaches classes that are hatha and vinyasa influenced, blended with humor, creativity and the cultivation of self-awareness. She loves glitter, tattoos, cats, street art and has been known to enjoy terrible 80s music (which she promises to not play in her yoga classes). Teacher training in Recovery Yoga, 12YSR Facilitation with Nikki Myers, Street Yoga and Trauma Sensitive yoga.
