About
Peace to you and thank you for visiting.
I began my yoga journey 13 years ago when I stumbled into a yoga class at a gym in Brooklyn, NY. At the time, I was overweight and stressed out, suffering from a deep lack of connection and direction in my life. After my first class, I immediately felt a sense of peace and body awareness I had never experienced and began to dive deeper into the asana practice and spiritual teachings of yoga. I studied various modalities, Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Bikram and Hot Yoga before finally making a pilgrimage to India where I met met my guru and friend, Swami Dayananda. High in the himalayan mountains, I learned ancient Kriyas and a new form of Asana practice I had never experienced in the US. When I left India I continued to work as a touring musician, using yoga to provide a balance and groundedness to my on-the-go rock and roll lifestyle. I found more and more that through my travels, people would ask me to to teach them how to do yoga and so I decided to study and officially become a teacher. Through divine grace I came to hear about an older yoga master living in NYC who delivered spiritually intense yoga sessions in Chelsea. I had to know more and that is what brought me to meet Sri Dharma Mittra. When I attended his class and then after looked into his eyes, I felt as thought is was my Indian Guru looking back at me. These two men, two opposite sides of the earth have an ability to reach into your soul and show it to you.The devotion they show in their own practice and their living yoga, is transmitted to each one they touch and for that I am profoundly grateful. Now, a year later, I am still a touring singer-songwriter and yoga teacher bringing music to the practice of yoga and yoga to the practice of music. They are all one. Through yoga, like music, we are in harmony with the universe, we breath in the sound that moves between the space of opposing forces to experience the divine nature in all of us. It is a blessing and an honor to share this practice with you. Om Shanti!
