About
Teaching yoga nearly continuously since 2003, Cheech possesses the Yoga Alliance’s designations of E-RYT 500 (experienced, registered yoga teacher) and YACEP (Yoga Alliance continuing education provider).
During her time in the YA registry, she has engaged in over fifteen hundred (1,500) hours of professional yoga teacher training in a wide variety of mat-based yoga styles. Her October 2019 aerial yoga credentialing in Christopher Harrison's AntiGravity Fundamentals 1 & 2 added the gift of yogic flight to her instructional repertoire. Cheech has earned both Bachelor’s (BA) and Master’s (MTP) degrees in Transpersonal Psychology. She is a body-centered applied psychologist and educator. She is trained to deliver Dr. Stephen Porges' polyvagal nervous system regulation Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) through Unyte-ILS. Her three (3) year journey toward earning the Somatic Experiencing Provider (SEP) credential from Somatic Experiencing International (the global organization that trains professionals in the trauma recovery work of Dr. Peter Levine) will finally be complete in December 2025. Her most favorite thing is introducing yoga to “first-timers” and to students with limited mobility. She has a compassionate and engaging teaching style that invites practitioners to inhabit their bodies from the crowns of their heads to the tips of their toes. To her, to go to the mat is the ultimate act of self-discovery.
