About

Yoga began as a physical practice and way for me to tune in with myself again emotionally.  Transforming from young adulthood to wife and motherhood left me in a someone selfish and self-absorbed state for a time.  After a few short months of beginning my yoga practice, I dove into East Lansing Hot Yoga’s first 200 hour Teacher Training program and began teaching upon completion.  As my practice grew, so did my love of sharing it with others.  I have been fortunate enough to teach several classes between ELHY and Firefly Hot Yoga, as well as in my own town of Grand Ledge.              Teaching so much gave me a huge feeling of responsibility to the students who would enter the studios.  I developed a strong desire to focus again on my personal practice, but with a sense that I also wanted to learn how to more effectively share and connect with the students I interact with daily.  This lead me to my second 200 hour Teacher Training Intensive at the Center for Yoga in Birmingham, Michigan with the LifePower Yoga System developed by Jonny Kest.  This 30-day intensive, lead by Tommy Mack, shifted my own personal thought process and therefore opened up a door for me to share what I had learned in a new way.

Now, I don’t see the time as only teaching a series of yoga postures or sequences.  I see it now as a time of creating space for others to connect their body, mind and soul through their connection of breath and movement--and hopefully from that calming some of the fluctuations of the mind, settling into space of equanimity.  Our world moves so quickly everyday and the stress that we feel from our co-workers, bosses, jobs, family and society in general have the potential to drift away for the 60, 75 or 90 minutes we allow ourselves on our mat.  When you practice with me, you can expect some guided time through postures and flow, but also a bit of time to flow freely within the sequences.  I hope to allow time to find and explore your own edges, but also those moments of softness and surrender around the edges.  My goal is to provide you the opportunity to create your own sacred space on your mat first, and then to open the door for you to take that space with you out into your world – feeling a little more peaceful.  Allowing the spark and light within each of you to shine the way it was meant to.
