About
Marcelle Gauvin is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of her yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS), specifically Sva Ha Yoga Academy in New Bedford, MA.
She is an Associate Professor of Voice at Berklee College of Music where she teaches Yoga for Musicians and serves as one of the Voice Department’s voice retraining specialists. Marcelle is a guest faculty member for the Sva Ha Academy's 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and teaches weekly yoga classes at Sva Ha Academy, in New Bedford, MA. Marcelle is known for incorporating voice with yoga in her practice and teaching. Her path in music is unique, studying both academically and with wisdom keepers of First People traditions. Most recently, she returned from immersive research in Nepal, deepening her understanding of mantra and yogic bija. Through her experiences in jazz singing, energy medicine, and the vibrational songs of earth-conscious communities, Marcelle teaches vocal freedom with movement and mantra. Her masterful knowledge of vocal function supports both singers and yogis in their journey to find and free their voices. Marcelle has toured the U.S. as a jazz singer with recordings on the Whaling City sound label. She has been a senior faculty member at the Shenandoah University Contemporary Commercial Music Institute in Winchester, VA for 15 years. Marcelle is also the Director of Music at the Sva Ha Yoga and Synergy of Sound Academy. In the Academy, she teaches students to find their voices through song, mantras, movement, and circle singing in order to heal, awaken, create, and connect.“I have worked with everyone from professionals to aspiring new artists to beginners. The process is the same. If you speak, you sing. Every soul carries a song and that song is continually born in the now” Marcelle offers private sessions, classes, retreats, workshops, sacred singing circles, and kirtan. She continues to embody the intention of healing and connection through music.
