About
Hey! My name is Marisa (pronounced Moor-ee-sa), an Italian name reflecting my heritage.
I am currently residing in an off-grid cabin located just a 10-minute drive from downtown Whitehorse, Yukon. I've been a yoga practitioner for the last 15 years, and recently completed my 200Hr Yoga Teaching Training in March 2025. I hold a RYT®-200 certification with Yoga Alliance. My yoga practice roots from the Modo Yoga community, and where my journey began by being exposed to various styles and practices including: vinyasa, power yoga, yin, yin/yang, vinyasa krama, yoga nidra, restorative, pranayama, and meditation. My work and educational background stems from 15+ years working in the geoscience field, and where I hold a M.Sc. and Professional Geology license with The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of Alberta (APEGA). Other accreditations I have obtained is a certificate as a Holistic Nutritionist & Health Coach, EMR with the Canadian Red Cross, and Avalanche Educator with the Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA). Outside of my yoga practice you’ll find me embracing the outdoors in every season. Whether backcountry skiing through deep powder, mountain biking rugged trails, or snowmobiling into remote alpine terrain, I thrive in the wild spaces of the mountains. My love for nature extends to fishing and hunting, as well as gardening and living a homestead lifestyle at my cabin, where I cultivate a deep connection to the land. For myself, movement and mindfulness go hand in hand whether on the mat or exploring the vast landscapes that inspire my practice. Marisa Hindemith is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).
