About
Meggie Monahan completed her 200-hour teacher training at BIG Power Yoga in July 2014 and is a RYT-200 with the Yoga Alliance.
Meggie began practicing yoga in Washington, DC in 2006. Her first teacher, Margaret Townsend, taught her that a peace-full practice is a power-full practice. As a yoga teacher, Meggie is committed to excavating hope, stirring up strength, and motivating her students to fulfill on their intentions. Her greatest joy in teaching yoga comes from co-creating a lighthearted space where students can be themselves without fear. Students in Meggie's class can expect a rigorous practice in a supportive environment where breath is the access to victory. Meggie moved to Houston from Philadelphia in 2009 to study creative writing and received her MFA in poetry from the University of Houston. She is lives in Houston where she teaches at BIG and works as the Director of Partnerships & Learning for Arts Connect Houston. Whenever Meggie rolls out her mat, she likes to remind herself of Shunryu Suzuki's words: "Each of you is perfect the way you are ... and you can use a little improvement."
