Melanie began her yoga journey in college while perusing fitness books to address body discomfort from living life full-on through sports and vigorous physical activities When she stumbled across K Pattabis Jois Yoga Mala publication in she realized that yoga practice could not only meet and strengthen her in her physical condition but also could empower and expand her spiritual and mental well-being via an eight limb path/approach to living     In Melanie was more aware of the need for yoga to be shared with everyone college students individuals of all shapes and sizes regardless of financial ability Therefore she completed a Level I Teacher Training through Beth Shaws YogaFit program and immediately taught karma yoga classes to students friends and family     For continued development during the hustle of raising a son and working a corporate job in Atlanta Melanie sought out her own teachers She practiced with Marsha Madhavi Scredon at the Yoga Source learning concise form instructions and repeating sequences to develop muscle memory Under Laurie Finchs instruction at Yoga North Atlanta in Duluth GA invaluable Ashtanga yoga practice the breath pranayama and body locks bandhas knowledge were gained     In October Melanie completed a -Hour Yoga Teacher Training program with Gina Minyard an Anusara-inspired Senior Teacher at The Yoga Collective Melanie taught yoga to crossfit athletes in Duluth GA from - and recently relocated to a small town west of Knoxville TN  She furthered her knowledge through workshops and trainings studying under Kelly Scott at Dragonfly Thai Yoga Massage and plans to pursue additional training in the future     Melanie strives to incorporate her own heart-centered practice into the classroom teaching optimal alignment and intelligent sequencing to prepare the physical body heart and mind to open towards the light of yoga.
