About
Melanie McQuown, co-owner, ERYT 500, has been practicing yoga for almost 21 years, and is the Program Director for the PeaceLab Yoga Shala.
She has been teaching in the community for over 15 years, and received her RYT 200 certification in 2010 while studying in the Anusara (TM) method, and currently studies with Christina Sell. She received her ERYT 500 certification in October 2015, and currently has logged over 6044 hours of teaching time and over 1000 hours of studies in asana, anatomy, physiology, alignment, and philosophy. For Melanie, the mat is a place for experimentation and wonderment. Constantly evolving, always changing, the practice continues to draw us in and change us....alchemy for the body, mind, and soul. Foremost a student, she is inspired by and grateful to the many teachers she has studied with, including Christina Sell, Gioconda Parker, Darren Rhodes, and Desiree Rumbaugh. She continues to be inspired by her students daily, and loves to see the transformation that arises from their time on the mat. Melanie leads dynamic classes, informative workshops, individualized instruction, as well as retreats. She is also the Program Director for the 200 and 300 Hour PeaceLab Yoga Teacher Training Programs, whose aim is to provide the communities in and around West Michigan with world-class yoga instructors.
