About
Melissa found that after practicing yoga and meditation for decades she wanted to share the life changing benefits she received by teaching others.
Through her practice, she experiences an ever deepening understanding of herself and the world around her. Melissa is a long time student of Dina Amsterdam, the founder of InnerYoga, and has been practicing with her since 1994. For the last five years, she has been engaged consistently in advanced training and mentorship with Dina. Melissa also has a long time practice of Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N.Goenka and has studied restorative Yoga in depth with Harvey Deutch. She has learned through these studies and practices the importance of inner listening which helps us gain understanding of how the body, emotions, and mind support us in our growth and connections. InnerYoga is a way of developing intimacy with ourselves, and as we expand our relationship to self we can have better relationship with others and with our surroundings. In her classes, Melissa creates a peaceful environment and encourages students to go deep within themselves and develop that intimacy. As a poet and Master Gardener, Melissa’s teaching is inspired by her heartfelt relationship to the earth and the magical place we live in.
