About
Melissa always thought yoga would be too difficult for someone both high energy and a little clumsy (no lifelong dancer, here!), but she finally tried it after her second child was born by unplanned C-section in 2009.
She loved the balance of playfulness with intense concentration, and she was thrilled with the non-judgmental kindness of her various teachers. A university professor of literature by day, Melissa began to integrate yoga techniques into her traditional classes, encouraging her students to clear their minds through breathing and sometimes even physical movement. She finally completed her 200-hours RYT in 2015 at Yogaja in Toledo, Ohio, which primarily adopts an Ashtanga style influenced by Jivamukti. Melissa's upbeat classes are designed to accommodate a wide range of ages and body types. She offers modifications for all levels and encourages all her students to personalize their practices according to their needs.
