About

Melissa is a Yoga Alliance–registered yoga teacher, energy worker, and retreat leader with a multidisciplinary background rooted in movement, mindfulness, and community care.

She began practicing yoga in 2010 after being introduced to the practice while earning her BFA in Sculpture, where she first explored the connection between creativity and healing. What started as a personal tool for managing anxiety evolved into a lifelong path of study and teaching.Melissa completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Powerflow Yoga in 2018 and has since continued her education extensively. Her training includes an 85-hour Prenatal Yoga certification, a 35-hour Yin & Restorative training, evidence-based birth doula training, and specialized certifications in yoga for addiction and trauma. She also completed a 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga in Rishikesh, India, where she deepened her understanding of alignment, hands-on assists, sequencing, and yogic philosophy. In addition to yoga, she has studied energy healing modalities including Reiki and Healing Touch since 2011.Having lived and taught in Puerto Rico and Florida, Melissa brings a global perspective to her teaching and is passionate about ethical travel, cultural respect, and building meaningful connections through retreat experiences. Becoming a mother has further deepened her relationship to yoga. She continues to expand her knowledge through ongoing study, including Pilates training, and is working toward creating a retreat space in Puerto Rico that supports local businesses and honors the diaspora while offering transformative experiences for students.
