About
I completed my undergrad with an advanced double major in Psychology, Sociology and Social Anthropology (BSc.) in 2003.
With a passion for teaching I went on to complete a Secondary Education degree in Science and Social Studies (BEd.) in 2005. After working with the Wetaskiwin Regional School division for 7 years and teaching high school sciences in a small rural school, I developed a passion to learn more about leadership. I later completed a masters in Leadership and School Improvement (MEd.) in 2013 and Later my Doctoral of Education Degree in 2020. I began practicing yoga in 2010 after being introduced to its benefits (stress relief, relaxation) by a friend/colleague. The changes I saw in my body and the amazing feeling after completing a practice has kept me coming back. In 2014, I received my 200hr certification from Michele Theoret at Empowered Yoga. My future goal is to continue to grow as a practitioner by completing other workshops and yoga intensives and eventually introducing the benefits of yoga to the teachers and students at my school. Off the mat, you can find me working as the principal at Pigeon Lake Regional School and teaching yoga to students. Outside of work you will find me walking my bulldogs daily, and enjoying the company of my loving and very supportive husband. I am humbled and excited that my life has flowed to this point, where I can share the practice of yoga with others. By practicing and teaching, I have learned to listen, I have become more aware, and I have learned how to respond and be flexible to whatever life throws at me. Yoga helps us to breathe easier, become comfortable in our skin, live more peacefully, and deepen our connection to spirit. Teaching yoga is my ultimate source of joy. I teach yoga because I love yoga and I wholeheartedly believe in its benefits of the body, mind and spirit. I believe yoga is everywhere and everything and that everyone can practice some form of yoga. As I continue to learn as growth, both as a student and teacher, I hope to pass my passion and joy of yoga on to others. I am now incredibly excited to be working at a new school this year, where I will be teaching flow class and a restore and renew class. Fellow yogi’s can expect a challenging yet invigorating class, suited for all levels, with an emphasis on being true to yourself and gaining joy, not frustration, from your yoga practice. “Just let go and flow.”
