She is the author of two books A Life Worth Living: A Journey of Self-Discovery Through Mindfulness, Yoga, and Living in Awareness. She was born in Queensland, Australia, and at the age of seventeen moved to Los Angeles to attend the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. After roles in Don’t Look Back, with Peter Fonda (1996) and Love Boat: The Next Wave (1998), a depleting injury led her to embark on a healing journey, focusing on yoga. Always a student herself, Mellara's personal yoga practice has benefited greatly from using The Great Yoga Wall™. She has taught students privately on the Wall since 2002. Now since moving from the West to the East Coast of the U.S in 2022 Mellara has been teaching at Open Doors Yoga Studios in the Boston area where she offers group yoga and private one-on-one Yoga Wall sessions as a valuable tool for students advancing practice, exploring new poses and back pain relief.
