About
I truly believe that yoga is an integral part of a healthy aging and wellness.
My classes are gentle yoga and a beautiful blend of breath, movement and stillness … inclusive options, a less is more approach. Curious for a while about yoga and hesitant due to the popular media images of slim young, extremely fit and flexible people … and being more of a creative, academic not athletically inclined … I came to yoga later than some. I was really drawn by the sense that yoga was more than the physical, seeking more balance and calm in my life. I found my courage to take that first step and joined my first yoga class and began to explore a personal practice in 2004. Ten years later, I chose to share my yoga experience with others and I became a Certified Yoga Instructor from Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training, Jody Myers school (AYTT - Kripalu Inspired Yoga) and Certified Yoga for Healthy Aging Teacher with Baxter Bell and Melina Meza. In 2021, I became an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist (by Kathryn Templeton, Yoga International). My goal is to make yoga welcoming and approachable. To invite people to explore yoga while they learn to maintain and improve strength, balance, flexibility, agility, and cultivate equanimity with a balanced practice of movement and breath work. As an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, I bring a seasonal approach to yoga practice … as without so within, as within so without. My classes are for anyone wanting a gentle, mindful yoga class. You are encouraged to move at your own pace and to listen to your needs. My classes include guided verbal cues and choices for taking care of oneself. I am inspired by nature, my garden, my happy go lucky dogs ( my walking companions) whether it be the beach, the forest, a trail, or my backyard. I explore my creative side through knitting, rug hooking, with a sprinkling of photography, writing and other curiosities ... nurtured by nature and creativity, food for the soul. ~ Gentle Yoga for Healthy Aging ~ yoga with Michelle ~ Embrace the wisdom of your body with this compassionate yoga practice, designed to support graceful aging and inner radiance.
