In I began a new journey in  my life - one of becoming healthy I changed my eating habits and began to commit to losing weight - a total of pounds in all Along this journey I had a great deal of encouragement but none like I had from my son He applauded each and every pound I shed goal I reached and encouraged me to begin taking other steps towards becoming healthy One of his suggestions was to join the gym and start a fitness plan which for me was a stretch as I hated the very thought of "working out" Being a certified personal trainer he gave me tips and pointers and suggested I participate in some classes In the past with encouragement from my cousin I dabbled in a couple of yoga classes but never really focused a great deal on a consistent practice When I noticed yoga classes at the local gym I thought "its a sign" and began with a Yoga Fundamentals class; through this class I felt I was gaining a firmer foundation  One evening we had a substitute and at the end of class her husband invited me to try her yoga class I did and with time I began to notice a peace surrounding this instructor a peace and serenity I desired When she opened her private studio I believe I was one of the first to open a membership! It all began to snowball for me from there I began to notice slow changes in me - a calmness a peace - and began to notice how my yoga practice was deepening on a personal level When the studio began to advertise teacher training classes I began to wonder if I would be able to help others deepen their personal practice and find a personal serenity I went back to my biggest encourager my son He again encouraged me - gave me advice practiced with me offered suggestions  If it had not been for my son I would not be an instructor or a member of Yoga Alliance today In fact if it were not for my son I would not have acquired my first teaching job as a Yoga instructor He saw the flyer advertising the position and notified me  There is deep personal satisfaction for me in sharing my love and knowledge of Yoga with others Through Yoga anyone can find "the light at the end of the tunnel".
