Monica found the perfect blend of movement and meditation in a Led Ashtanga yoga class in the gym of her alma mater, Carleton College.
Within just a few weeks, she knew yoga would be in her life for a long time! After meeting Melanie Fawer, Certified Ashtanga teacher in the lineage of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, in 2011 Monica returned to the practice which sparked her initial interest in yoga and has dedicated her personal practice to the system of Ashtanga since that time. Monica has been teaching yoga since 2002, completing over 1,000 hours of training in Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, Mindfulness and Ayurveda for Yoga and Bodywork. She completed Ally Ford's 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training in Shreveport, LA and Melanie Fawer’s 200 and 300 hour teacher trainings in New Orleans, LA. Most recently, she spent 6 months teaching and practicing under the guidance of Melanie at the Ashtanga Yoga Room in New Orleans. Monica believes yoga is a life long internal journey. She leads her classes with the intention that each student experiences inner awareness and with this innate wisdom the student becomes their own best guide. Additionally, Monica is a licensed massage therapist (LA #7649).
