About
I believe in every human’s capacity for healing and growth.
In my private psychotherapy practice, I engage trauma-sensitive/trauma-informed and other gentle forms of yoga, breathwork, and mindful body movement, as well as trauma-focused therapeutic approaches like Somatic Experiencing and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I approach therapy from a holistic framework focused on enhancing your awareness of present-moment needs. Embodiment is a core focus of my yoga and counseling/psychotherapy work. I believe that when we embody our present moment experience we can enhance self-awareness and become more integrated. Gentle practices such as trauma-sensitive yoga, restorative yoga, yin yoga, chair yoga, adaptive yoga, meditation, and pranayama are generally better suited for individual psychotherapeutic work with my areas of specialization, including relationship concerns, developmental trauma, mood and anxiety disturbances, dissociative and somatic symptom disorders, chronic pain, and grief. In addition to being an Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor with a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, Concentration: Somatics, and a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have over 10 years of experience using body-focused modalities in psychotherapy. Please visit my website for more information or to contact me: www.drnevinesultan.com
