About

I started practicing yoga about 10 years ago.

I had never exercised, was very stiff and inflexible, and was looking for something "easy" to do. Once I got started, I was amazed not only at the physical changes in my body (more muscle strength, more flexibility), but at the mental changes as well. The connection of the breath to the physical body, the mental acuity and focus, the sense of calm that washed over me. I noticed that I was more patient than I had been in the past. I increased my practice, learning what I could on my own. I finally decided that yoga teacher training was something I wanted to pursue - both to increase my own understanding and dive deeper, as well as to be able to share this amazing practice with others. I teach both vinyasa and Yin yoga. I love the flow of connecting the body's movements to breath in vinyasa. But I also love the amazing complement/cross-training that Yin brings to vinyasa, since it is a quiet, still practice aimed at opening the deep connective tissues and fascia in long, held poses. I teach weekly private group lessons, and I am also available for in-home private yoga or meditation lessons and group yoga lessons of whichever type of yoga someone is looking for. One of my passions is teaching faith-based yoga - connecting the yoga experience with Christian beliefs by inviting God to be present with us on our mats. I am fortunate to have a weekly faith-based vinyasa class with a community of wonderful women.
