About
I have been practicing yoga since January 2014, and instantly fell in love with it. I began my practice at home with DVD’s then ventured out to my gym to take classes. I began to do yoga because I wanted to become flexible again. I am a former dancer, and figured that yoga could be my new form of physical and emotional expression. I remember how I felt when I was a dancer.
Dancing was my “yoga” when I was younger. From the time I first stepped onto my mat, I felt a connection to my practice. I was happy and calm. I was connected to my body, mind, and spirit. Professionally, I come from a background in banking. I was laid off in 2011, and was given the opportunity to go back to school. I chose to become a med assistant. When I interviewed at my school, my future teacher asked me why I wanted to become a MA. I answered, “I want to help people.” This phrase stuck with me since that moment. Since then, I have found my dream job-I work for an amazing group of neurosurgeons. I was approached by a yoga instructor in March 2016. She asked me if I was a yoga teacher. I kind of giggled and said, “No, but I’ve been thinking of maybe taking a course someday.” She told me that I should be a yoga teacher, and that I should look into it. I found a training course at hOMe Yoga Experience. I went, I signed up, and I am so happy that I completed the course. During my training, the same phrase popped up into my head that was my reason for becoming a MA. “I want to help people.” Yoga is another way for me to help people. I will not only teach poses to my students, but I will be able to share my passion for the practice. I will be able to share the benefits of yoga, and how it can change lives. Yoga is not just what you practice on the mat, but what you practice off of it as well. Love yourself, and love others. Namaste.
