About
It has been said that there are many paths up the mountain, and Paula Coyne has had a unique journey adding yoga to hers.
Old wisdom traditions and transformational systems have always called to her. She is a psychologist who practices and teaches meditation (including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, which has a yoga component); produces breathwork (pranayama) and meditation CDs; has studied Qi Gong and Reiki. Since 1998 she has apprenticed in an earth wisdom tradition, and teaches a two year training (“The Art of Peace”) in this way along with her husband. She guides transformational experiences here and at sacred sites around the mother earth, and is an annual Sundancer and Kiva Lodge dreamer. She completed her 200+ hr yoga teacher training through The Yoga Center of Minneapolis in 2011 (which has a strong foundation in the sacred texts), having practiced over many years. She is inspired by such teachers as Matthew Portwood, Tara Cindy Sherman and Seane Corn, & has taught Gentle and Chair Yoga. Vinyasa is her passion! Yoga means 'union', the union of breath and movement, the union of spirit, emotions, body and heartmind. Paula is excited about the union of these sacred practices gathered over a lifetime, can see what they share in their essence, and how when brought together, they expand us exponentially. She articulates this fusion as the intersection between the Eight Limbs of Yoga and the Eight Directions of the Medicine Wheel.
