About
Raven has a long history of study and performance in dance/movement and in 1981 she took her first yoga class and was understandably hooked -- she kept exploring many different styles and traditions of yoga over the years until she finally found her home with Kripalu Yoga in 1999.
She was led to teacher training in 2003 in this style and has been offering group and private and corporate yoga and meditation instruction, Ayurvedic consultations, Reiki, ecstatic dance/moving meditation, and wellness coaching ever since. She founded the Boston Wellness Center (formerly Self-Healing Solutions) in 2003 and was Executive Director of the center until 2018 when she moved to NC. The center is now closed, but she continues to teach and offer workshops and trainings in her new home --the Lake Norman area of North Carolina. She also taught virtual yoga classes during COVID. Raven specializes in yoga for low back pain and is the author of the book, Back to Balance: Heal Your Spine, Heal Your Life, a 30-Day, self-directed program. She is also a Doctor of Acupuncture and herbal medicine, (licensed in MA, NC and SC) and a Reiki Master. She runs her own health and wellness clinic, Back to Balance Wellness, in Cornelius, NC. As a published author, she has been a popular workshop presenter/speaker at yoga and wellness conferences and events. Past venues have included the American Nurses Association Conference and Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Raven's yoga mentors are Brahmani Liebman, Hasita Nadai, Stephen Cope and Sudha Carolyn Lundeen. She has also found yoga courses with Gary Kraftsow , Judith Hansen Lasater, Sara Meeks and Rod Stryker helpful and fulfilling. She was initiated into the Neelakantha Meditation tradition in 2010 by Dr. Paul Muller Ortega and is a long-time student of Dr. Barbara DeAngelis.
