About
I(Ravinder Menon {Gyan Anand}) am currently registered with Yoga Alliance as RYT 500, which means that I have completed my 500 hour yoga teacher training at an active RYS.
I have been a Yoga practitioner for 40+ years and believe in the holistic role of Yoga for radiant total health and inner peace. I got my initial 200-hour teacher training/certification at Patanjali International Yoga Foundation in Rishikesh India, and additional 300-hour training and certification from Paramanand Yoga, Indore, India. I founded Bharathi Yoga in 2011 to spread the wisdom and practice of Yoga to people in the Richmond Virginia area and beyond. I believe in Yoga for everyone. My students range in age from 8 to over 80. My goal is to help spread the knowledge and practice of Yoga to as many people as possible to help them become healthier happier and more balanced in their lives. I also like to stay true to the original sources of Yoga which can be found in Sanskrit texts such as Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradeepika, Gheranda Samhita, etc. My practice focuses on traditional holistic Yoga that includes Sookshma Vyayama, Surya Namaskar, Asanas, Pranayama Kriyas, Mudra, Bandha and Dhyana. I am also in the process of getting certified as Yoga therapist with IAYT accreditation.
