About

I'm an avid student of life and I love to teach.

I have a PhD in Literature and Cultural Studies, and I carry the wisdom I found as an academic into my Yoga practice. I believe that in order to be a good teacher, I must continue to learn, grow, challenge my own assumptions, and question my self-presumed limitations. My flow classes are often creative and unique sequences, with an occasional blend of structured vinyasa practices and organic flow. My philosophy as a teacher is that I am not here to teach my students my yoga practice, but to give them the tools to discover their own yoga. So, I offer an eclectic practice that allows students to settle into where they want and need to be. My Yin classes are sprinkled with Yoga philosophy, and I find it valuable to show how the concepts from Yogic tradition are similar and distinctive from Western philosophical thought. I include pranayama and meditation in my classes. I have been teaching Yoga since 2006 and practicing since long before then. I became RYT 200 certified in 2011. I'm now an E-RYT 500 certified instructor. I have additional certifications in AIReal Yoga, a Yoga Alliance registered aerial yoga practice, and in Yin Yoga, which I received under Bernie Clark and Diana Batts. I'm also a 300hr certified meditation guide, and an Ayurveda Health Counselor (600hrs). I'm currently training to become a Yoga Therapist with Inner Peace Yoga Therapy. I have additional specific trainings in: Vinyasa Yoga Yoga for 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR) Yoga of Recovery (Distinct from Y12SR) Yoga for Depression and Anxiety Yoga for Grief Ayurveda Yoga Therapy Functional Yoga Therapy Yoga for Pain Care Yoga for Cancer Survivors I've been so lucky to cross paths with amazing teachers, including (the incomparable) Stevi Self, Angela Farmer, Joe Taft, Michael Johnson, Michael Stone, Maria Shamas, Scott Blossom, David Swenson, Noah Maze, Nicolai Bachman, Chinnamasta Styles, Leela Durga, Amy Weintraub, and Shala Worsley. 230 hr Certification from Asheville Yoga Center 300 hr Certification from Asheville Yoga Center 50hr Aerial Yoga teacher training, via Carmen Curtis and AIReal Yoga. 50hr Yin Yoga teacher training, via Bernie Clark and Diana Batts. 600 hr Āyurveda Health Counselor, Radiant Living School of Āyurveda. 300hr Meditation Teacher Training, Mind Oasis.
