About
Samantha has been practicing yoga since 2001 and began teaching in 2015 after completing her 200-hour certification with A Jewel in the Lotus Yoga School.
In 2017, she co-founded The Welcome Mat Yoga and Wellness in Islip, NY following the sudden closure of the studio where she studied and taught. She has been deeply influenced by teachings from the traditions of Raja, Hatha, and Ashtanga Yoga, drawing great inspiration from both teachers and students over the years. In 2025, she completed her 500-hour certification with Mark Stephens Yoga Academy and continues to explore workshops and trainings to deepen her practice and refine her teachings. Samantha believes that yoga can be the bridge back to ourselves as we navigate the ups and downs of our lives. Her classes are rooted in a passion for exploring the mechanisms of the body and breath to gain a self-awareness that extends to the most subtle layers of our being. She enjoys weaving together poses in a way that make sense for the physical body to keep the practice both intelligent and accessible. Samantha’s mission is to be a gentle guide in helping others to see themselves more clearly and to walk confidently in the world with that understanding. Samantha teaches classes in the styles of Vinyasa, Hatha/Vinyasa, Gentle, Beginner, Restorative, and Chair yoga. She is also certified to teach Yoga for Breast Cancer Survivors and attuned to the 3rd Level of the Usui Reiki Tradition. Based primarily out of her studio in Islip, Samantha offers classes in both group and private settings, as well as workshops and collaborative events with other teachers and wellness guides. “My ultimate reward is helping people to find a retreat, a sense of place in the universe, and a way of life. I am aware of how difficult it is to claim time for yourself amidst all of your daily responsibilities. But I also know that yoga can fit into any person’s life and enrich it in ways expected!”
