In while pursuing a BFA in Photography at Ohio State I discovered yoga and all of its benefits After only one short class I could feel that something inside me had changed and unknown to me a tiny seed had been planted It was too early to tell that in only five short years this tiny seed would blossom and change my life forever In after obtaining my degree I enlisted as a medic into the United States Army It was there that I would find my calling      During my first combat tour my unit was faced with caring for wounded soldiers too healthy to be sent home yet too injured to return to the battlefield These soldiers were in need of rehabilitation and something more than traditional western practices could offer It was for them that I could use the Holistic healing benefits of yoga “Yoga works” I remember telling my commanding officer as I stood in his office “I can help" And in the heart of Ar Ramadi Iraq a program centered on Yoga and Osteopathic Techniques was created In that moment through working with the soldiers I knew I had found my life purpose      I went on to serve three tours of duty overseas and in upon exiting the military; I dove whole-heartedly into the study practice and application of yoga I saw what it did to those truly in need and I made it my passion to share this knowledge with others      I am currently an E-RYT hr Continuing Education Provider through Yoga alliance and sole proprietor of Trees Lounge Yoga I am certified in Vinyasa flow and formally trained in Athens Ohio at Inhale Yoga Studio and in Asheville NC at the Asheville Yoga Center I have also studied the therapeutic benefits of yoga at the Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and Ayurveda in Boulder Colorado and continue to expand my knowledge through attending workshops and trainings in a variety of disciplines to include Ashtanga Vinyasa Restorative and Bhakti Yoga I have been actively teaching since and continue to share my knowledge and passion to all those who desire to deepen their understanding and practice of yoga.
