About
I first experienced yoga in college, when I checked a VHS tape out from the library and practiced with Rodney Yee.
I was immediately aware of how different I felt mentally and physically. From that first class, yoga became a passion and a lifeline in seasons of challenge. I have been lucky enough to pursue this passion and train in trauma-sensitive, restorative, vinyasa and neurogenic tremoring yoga and mindfulness practices. I started studying in the late 90’s, and in 2021 I was fortunate to complete my 500-hour certification with Jason Crandell. My teaching goal is for you to find your way back to yourself through your practice. I hope to lead you from a big picture movement practice to a more nuanced experience in your body, and I aim for you to leave class with a well-regulated nervous system. I love teaching yoga and mindfulness practices. In addition to offering public classes as part of the amazing Hippie Soul team, I am lucky enough to teach high school students in D-11 and seniors at an independent living center. No matter your age or stage, I believe yoga is for you. My instruction emphasizes safe movement, gentle breath, and patient attention. We will work towards building strength and length in your muscle groups so that you can do the activities you love and feel well. Besides being a yogi, I have been married for 26 years and am a proud mom to my two grown sons. I have a couple dogs that take me outdoors regularly, and I enjoy reading while cuddling our very old cat. I am a naturalist, cinephile, musician and a perpetual student. Thank you for trusting me with your free time, and with your body-based practices. The studio classes I offer provide you the space to identify truth in your body, and to feel companioned in your practice. You are welcome in my classes exactly as you are; I hope we can move together soon.
