About

Sherra began practicing yoga in 2003 after a friend suggested that it might help her back injury.

Conventional methods had given some relief but still left her with considerable pain and dysfunction. She was uncomfortable taking a yoga class because of her injury and because she had a “non-standard-yoga-body” so she began learning yoga in weekly private sessions with Tina Stroh rather than in a group class. She saw some improvement immediately which led to a year of regular private sessions and a consistent home practice. She recovered sufficiently after a year and enjoyed yoga so much that she became interested in doing group classes, first attending team taught class “Big Yoga” at Just Plain Yoga studio. She continued in yoga classes with Carrie Fleming, and Ashtanga style with Tina Stroh. Sherra has completed workshops with Beryl Bender Birch, Edward Clark, David Williams, Corina Benner, and several others. She earned her 200 hour teaching certification through Just Plain Yoga. She studied with certified Iyengar teacher Dale Hails from 2009 until Dale's retirement in 2015. Sherra began teaching yoga in 2011 and is passionate about sharing yoga with people who could be hesitant to join a class because of self-perceived limitations of weight, inflexibility, age, or injury. She feels strongly about helping make yoga accessible to anybody who wants to try it, and loves to assist them in developing a supportive and effective yoga practice of their own. She enjoys working with people one-on-one and in group classes, and is continuously amazed at how much love is created in yoga practice.
