In 1997, Shiela began teaching yoga at the South Indian Sivananda Ashram and the Tushita Buddhist Meditation Center in Dharamsala after completing her first teaching certification in India.
She has returned to India several times to study Ashtanga yoga and Buddhist contemplative practices. In the States, Shiela has taught for twenty-eight years across New York City, San Fransisco, Denver, and Boulder. She trained intensively with renowned teachers Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor while earning an MA in Religious Studies focusing on Yoga Philosophy and Teaching Practices from Naropa University. Blessings to instruct from her teacher, the late Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois (founder of Ashtanga Yoga) inspires her to continue to share her passion for yoga. She offers vinyasa-style classes that integrate pranayama (breathwork) and meditation. Her classes are designed to cultivate self-awareness, mental clarity, and physical vitality.
