Susan Basmajian has practiced and studied yoga, meditation and yogic philosophy for 35 years.
With over 50 years as an educator, she blends her yoga practice, teaching background and life-experience, offering private and small group workshops on a variety of yoga subjects. Susan is a 500 hour yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. 1991, Susan was introduced to yoga through a Yoga Nidra session with Yogini Melinda Ann Peterson. Continuing her work with Melinda, she explored asana, pranayama, meditation and yogic philosophy. In 2007, she began teacher training with the Living Yoga Program in Austin Texas. Under the tutelage of Charles MacInerny, Ellen B. Smith and Donna Belk she refined her practice and expanded her teaching skills. Susan completed a 300 YTT with Stephanie Ball-Mitchell in 2023. She has also studied with Tias and Surya Little of Prajna Yoga and Kristin Weber of Subtle Yoga. began instructing tennis in high school and found a passion for teaching that has been a common thread throughout her life. She received a degree and credential in Physical Education and taught high school dance for five years. retiring from teaching in 1989, Susan became active in the Park City School District’s Parent Teacher Organization. She worked with others to promote the Community of Caring Program that teaches respect, responsibility and trust. In 1994, she served as a founding board member for the Winter Sports School in Park City. Susan sat on the curriculum committee and helped develop the school's Strategic Plan. a breast cancer diagnosis in 2004, yoga was essential to her recovery. It increased her vitality, improved her sleep and aided in stress management. In 2005, Susan became a Patient Navigator with the American Cancer Society and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. She mentored women through breast cancer diagnoses. Susan currently teaches for the Image Reborn Foundation which offers breast cancer retreats for women experiencing a breast cancer diagnosis. also teaches yoga privately in Salt Lake City, UT and online. She believes a consistent yoga practice is transformative, as it creates physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
