"Susan Turnage is an RN E-RYT a CYN- Certified YogaNurse® She has more than decades of clinical nursing experience that helps inform her weekly mat and chair yoga classes held in her local communities of New Kent and Charles City Her mission upon completion of yoga teacher training was to teach yoga to her local community to a multi-ethnic population of all abilities                  Susan completed her hour yoga training at Studio South her hour at Glenmore Yoga and Wellness center in Richmond VA She studied Yoga for Cardiovascular disorders with Dr Dilip Sarkar president of the IAYT Dr Sarkar mentored Susan in his yoga classes in Hampton VA and she became a regular substitute teacher for his classes when he lectured about Yoga and Ayurveda worldwide She also completed intensive studies with Dr Loren Fishman and is certified to teach the Fishman Method of Yoga for Osteoporosis Susan has completed Level I training in Yoga for Arthritis In the fall of she attended training with Drs Sarkar and McLanahan at Satchidananda Ashram Yogaville In January she attended a day workshop lead by Leslie Kaminoff “Breath Centered Yoga” Susan has presented YogaNursing programs at major nursing universities at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and at Satchidananda Ashram Yogaville Her proficiency in the fundamentals of anatomy physiology and chronic health conditions has informed her yoga teaching as well as presentations for corporate health and wellness programs             Her energetic teaching style is both didactic and experiential and places emphasis on self-awareness Focusing first on the integration of the physical mental emotional and energetic bodies and then on how the yogic path enhances that integration             Susan currently teaches yoga classes per week She is teaching yoga anatomy and yoga for special populations at Studio South hour Yoga teacher TrainingShe works as an art conservation technician helping art conservators restore and gild fine art picture frames She is married to Russ Turnage who makes porcelain pottery Her immediate supervisors are Humdinger her year old German Shepherd and his brother Amos She has two artistic and compassionate grown sons the great joy her life She volunteers for Virginia Institute of Marine Science as a saltwater game fish tagger Hobbies include making driftwood sculptures jewelry going fishing photography and writing.
