About

Sue started yoga at Decatur Athletic Club with the goal of improving strength, flexibility, and balance.

She soon discovered that yoga not only helped her in those areas, but also improved her energy level and strengthened her spiritual practice. The  death of Sue’s 24-year-old nephew Sam Winick in 2016 sparked a desire to honor his memory by living more fully, boldly, and purposefully.  That desire moved her to  complete RYT 200 training with Connie Pease in March of 2017. Her initial intention was to deepen her practice and improve her physical fitness at the same time. Sue and her husband, Mel, have since experienced an abundance of physical, mental, and spiritual benefits from practicing yoga — Thanks to Sammy.   The biomechanics of yoga and making it safely accessible to EVERY-BODY is of particular interest to Sue.  When she signed on for the RYT training, she did not know whether she wanted to teach yoga; however, as a result of doing the required practicum hours, she began teaching yoga to people of a variety of ages and physical conditions in the homes of friends and continues to do so.  Teaching yoga is fun and has ignited a passion in Sue to share with others the benefits of yoga she now enjoys every day. She currently teaches flow, gentle, alignment, and chair yoga.   Sue is also a mom, wife, and grateful grandma of seven, ranging in age from 19 to 1 year:  Kylie, Madeline, Amber, Lucas, Logan, Olivia, and C.J.  In addition to loving all the people in her life (and her dog/best friend, Fiona) and practicing yoga, she also loves reading, gardening, and cooking vegan meals.
