About
My goal as a yoga teacher is simple: help people be more happy.
But really, this has always been my goal - even before yoga came into my life. Happiness is here in this world for everyone, and yet everyone gets lost trying to find theirs at least once in their journey through life. Some people are more lost than others. For me (and many many others), yoga is the path that leads to happiness three-fold ... in mind, body and spirit. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been worried. After decades of anxiety-brain I was definitely lost, true happiness seemed completely out of grasp. My mind played tricks on me and super awful thoughts filled my brain - so much so that I turned to medication to quiet the craziness so that I could become a ‘productive member of society’. One day, after seeing my chiropractor to help with the awful, near-constant headache that was a daily occurence for me, he suggested I “join the Y and take a yoga class”. Sometimes in this life, when people say certain things, you really hear them, like it’s a code-word that unlocks the next level of consciousness in your DNA. I really heard this order to “join the Y and take a yoga class”, so I did. This, I soon learned, was the way back to my happiness. I haven’t looked back since that day I joined the Y. Since then, I’ve not only taken yoga classes at the YMCA, but I went on to earn my certification to teach Les Mills BodyFlow (a choreographed Yoga Fusion class incorporating Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates) classes in 2013, became certified to teach Barre Pilates, and was lucky enough to find my way to Yoga Loft in Ybor City to go through the journey to become a 200 hr certified Hatha Yoga Teacher under the amazing Ashley Thesier in 2015. Imagine a world where problems are solved at the root. More peace, less stress. More happy, less tension. Expanding the mind, not closing it. More flexibility, less stiff (in mind and body!). More feeling great in your own skin. More acceptance. More love. I find peace in Tree Pose (Vrksasana), it brings a smile to my face. I love the way my body feels in a backbend (Urdhva Dhanurasana) and accept where I am in a yoga bind. I find expansion in meditation. The things you learn about yourself in a yoga class are life-changing and how awesome it is that I am able to set the stage for others to experience their own life-changing relevations - all through the ancient wisdom of yoga poses! Before yoga, I didn’t realize that starting the journey to happiness was in my power. I didn’t realize it had anything to do with my body, my brain and didn’t have even a concept of what a spirit is. Every day now, I am learning how completely wrong I was and every day I’m loving my own journey to happiness. I want to help as many people as I can along their own personal journey, through yoga, to happiness. Namaste.
