About
My yoga experience began in 1995 when a friend gave me a video featuring Rodney Yee.
I wasn't sold. Yet.I began practicing seriously in 1997; a friend and I found a wonderful Hatha class near my home and then found a dedicated Iyengar Yoga studio down the road.My personal practice led me to want to know more about what yoga could do for women’s well-being. So in 2010, I decided to dedicate my doctoral dissertation to the study of yoga and body image. This decision led me to my 200-hour yoga teacher training at the Esther Vexler Yoga School in San Antonio, TX.After completing teacher training, I successfully defended my dissertation and opened a private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Yoga came into the counseling office with me. I taught individuals and groups how to use Hatha yoga postures and mindfulness meditation to help regulate their nervous systems and better manage stressors. In addition to using yoga inside the counseling room, I taught studio classes, private sessions, and workshops around San Antonio, TX. I focused on Basic Hatha, Restorative Yoga, and Yin Yoga. I continued teaching private and small groups via Zoom when the Pandemic took us out of the studios and have maintained those online classes ever since. I’ve added online workshops and an ongoing Yin Yoga series in the past 2 years.I officially moved to Southeast Aroostook County, Maine in 2024 and am growing a rural teaching practice. I continue to offer classes online – Yin and basic Hatha – and I’m seeking ways to support my local community with yoga too.I’m currently studying yoga therapy through the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy School.
