About

Terrance (Terry) Smith is a US Army Veteran, Registered Yoga Teacher, Reiki Practitioner and founder of Sol Work, a Health and Wellness foundation created to share a range of healing modalities with the connection to Sun, Soil and Soul work.

His diverse experience as a Mental Health Specialist in the Army, the health promotion within the ranks of his troops and passion towards liberated self-care are the foundations of his practice. Some of the experiences that have helped shape his practice includes a variety of mental health and therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to his time spent in South Korea, where he spent time practicing reformative mental health care in Army Prison facilities. He used collaborative therapeutic modalities in Inpatient Psych Units in Germany where he served for 3 years and spent another 3 years in Washington DC, using Ayurvedic practices to combat Substance Abuse for those who served or were serving in the military. In recent years, he has incorporated integrative care with Soldiers and Civilians on Oahu, Hawai’i and received his 200-hour certification in Multi-style Yoga Education at Hawaii Yoga Institute. He received his Level 1 Reiki certification at Four Levels Directions under the teachings of GW Center for Integrative Medicine and is currently in training with San Diego Miramar College for their 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training. In alignment with his teaching philosophy, Terry is committed to incorporating his years in mental health and therapy in diverse communities to provide a collaborative and immersive experience that is tailored towards the many needs of his students while simultaneously educating them on the lifestyle of yoga. Students can expect to explore their strengths, work on focus, and gain an understanding of yoga that is personal to them. He currently enjoys serving up Iced Cortados at Quiet Storm Roasters and Bakers in Hillcrest, San Diego and spending time with his two Hapa cats “Wookie” and “Jabber”
