About

I have been a professional Ballroom & Latin dance teacher for over 45 years, I competed at the National level before retiring from competition to run a large dance studio in Los Angeles, California, USA.

We were the largest studio for decades, teaching thousands of students to dance. Some of these students only danced for fun, several turned professional and opened their own studios. I was most proud of our reputation as the place for beginners to build an important foundation. In addition to teaching dance, I was also an Olympic Ice Dance coach, a gym rat, a distance runner, and an avid hiker. I was blessed to receive my 500 hour Pilates teacher training from Marie Jose Blom, and incorporated Pilates mat classes into my dance studio. Yoga was an escape for me, a place to focus on myself, my health, my injuries, and my sanity. I spent decades in Los Angeles exploring different schools, styles of yoga, and teachers, seeing the beautiful variations available in the yoga community. I loved that yoga met my needs, some days I needed nurturing, and some days I needed a bigger challenge. Initially, I only preferred powerful classes, but after a horseback riding accident put a hole in my hamstring, I found the value of gentle classes. Yoga supported me through injuries, family traumas, business stresses, and an aging athlete’s body. I had been asked to join teacher training for years but declined because I wanted to keep my escape. I preferred to BE a student. But after selling my dance studio, I was looking for a new direction. I finally decided to take yoga teacher training. This brought an additional richness to the yoga I had learned. I enjoy helping others find the gifts in yoga. I earned my 500-hour certifications with both Yoga Alliance and the World Yoga Federation. Growing up in a military family, I was drawn to the Warriors at Ease program. I have completed their full training. Warrior at Ease is trauma-informed teacher training. While it is designed specifically for our Military and First Responders, it can be beneficial to anyone dealing with trauma. I am also focusing on Chair Yoga and classes for our Senior community.
