Terry Meligonis is a Childrens Yoga Teacher former Lead Trainer for Radiant Child Yoga and Pediatric Occupational Therapist She incorporates childrens yoga into both her public school system OT caseload as well as into whole regular education and special education classrooms in grades PS to Drawing on over years of experience working with children of differing abilities in a variety of settings Childrens Yoga allows her to incorporate her training in sensory motor integration physical disabilities mental health and typical motor development to best serve her students Terry strongly believes that each childrens yoga class should include focused breathing activities a continued focus on the breathe throughout class physical poses age appropriate flow sequences and a relaxation / meditation segment Music Story & Theme Based Yoga provide an engaging and fun environment for all students Lessons in Anatomy & Physiology are interwoven throughout class for her older students Demonstrating to classroom teachers how little space they need to incorporate yoga into their classroom be it at a small carpeted area with their students standing by their desks or with them sitting in their chairs encourages continuity throughout the school week Witnessing the transformation through yoga particularly in children who have a hard time staying focused have sensory integration challenges experience anxiety are neuroatypical or are insecure in their physical skills is both meaningful and a great joy.
