About
I am a yoga teacher and physical therapist with a passion for exploring anatomy, physiology, and movement, and the ways in which science intersects with yoga practice.
I entered the practice of yoga around age 15 when my mom began teaching yoga in our community. Yoga has been a guiding presence in my life since then, and I began teaching while studying exercise science at the University of South Carolina. I got my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2011, and became board-certified in orthopedics in 2013. I also received specialized training in pelvic floor and women’s health physical therapy, and have found those skills extremely valuable in both physical therapy and yoga practice. I have taught yoga since 2005, and completed my initial teacher training in Anusara Yoga. My yoga training, however, is eclectic, and I love to explore and blend styles, but have always been drawn to yoga emphasizing alignment, technique, and intelligent but creative sequencing. In 2016, I completed an advanced 500-hour teacher training with Christina Sell and Gioconda Parker. I believe yoga fosters improved self-image, increased overall wellness, and transformation through self-exploration. Since 2012, I have been involved with Embody Love Movement, a non-profit with a mission to "empower girls and women to celebrate their inner beauty, commit to kindness, and contribute to meaningful change in the world." I now have the honor of leading workshops and facilitator trainings for this organization that has been such a catalyst in my own life. In addition to leading public yoga classes and trainings in North Texas, I offer private sessions, and I especially enjoy facilitating workshops and teacher training programs, both in yoga and for Embody Love Movement. I love to integrate the technical aspects of my physical therapy training with the wisdom of yoga in ways that empower people to accept and celebrate not only their bodies, but the full scope of that which they presently and potentially offer in this life. I can't wait to see you on the mat!
