Toby began her teaching career in 2000, initially studying with Ana Forrest and then working at the original Baptiste Power Yoga Institute training directly under Baron Baptiste.
Toby's practice is also influenced by her studies with Shandor Remete, the founder of Shadow Yoga, a combination of flowing yoga postures and martial arts. All levels of her classes involve a strong vinyasa flow as the way to create peace of mind through challenging, balancing and aligning the body. She teaches creative sequences that build strength, increase flexibility and ultimately, cultivate inner peace. Toby lived in Thailand for over a year, helping to launch a new yoga studio while training in Thai Yoga Bodywork to further her understanding of alignment and well-being. Reflecting her belief that yoga can be enjoyed by people at all stages of life, Toby has developed a chair yoga class for seniors and enjoys teaching an uplifting style of prenatal yoga, building upon her studies with Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa. In addition to her regular classes, Toby also enjoys volunteering as a yoga teacher and is a mentor for the Africa Yoga Project. She is also the co-founder of the online mind body portal Bostonyoga.com.
