About

TOM LARKIN, E-RYT 500 Yogi  |  Artist  |  Ayurvedic Wellness Coach The purpose of yoga is to enact a change...be that in the way we think, act, or live.

A teacher is here to be a guide and help you navigate these changes. To walk with you down your own path to a greater Self.  Tom came to yoga after many years in the business world creating visual art, playing sports, performing music, studying philosophy, and earning an Art degree from Belmont University. Through the encouragement of one of his first teachers, John Charping, Tom enrolled in the Southern Institute for Yoga Instructors' 1000-hour teacher training program and received his certification at the end of the 13 month long program. In addition, Tom has studied with and assisted globally his teacher Shiva Rea for over 12 years and gives pranams to her for guiding him to new levels of personal change.  Tom also continues to work with and learn from Martin Kirk, Nicki Doane, and his “flow brother” Simon Park.  He has also had the pleasure to experience the rajasic  jnana (passionate knowledge) of Ramanand Patel, David Swenson, Brock and Krista Cahill, and Maty Ezraty, among many other wonderful teachers. In addition, Tom is certified through his Ayurveda teacher and dear friend, James Bailey, as an Ayurveda Wellness Counselor and enjoys helping his clients find a greater level of well-being. In 2004, he co-founded Sanctuary for Yoga, Body & Spirit in Nashville, Tennessee with his former wife, Daphne Larkin, to further expand the creative vision they were developing.  Over the last 11 years, Sanctuary has expanded to be one of the leading studios in Nashville and sought after for the level and quality of its teaching in classes, workshops, and teacher training programs. When not at the studio or on a yoga mat, Tom enjoys spending rejuvenating time cooking, working around the yard, swimming, snow skiing or learning more about yoga’s deep roots.  In addition, you can find him spending quality family time with his wife Beth and their three kids, Torston, Bennett, and Arden.  All of these experiences have brought Tom a greater sense of Self - mentally, physically, and spiritually - which he strives to help others achieve both on the mat and in life.    Jai Shambo : Dwell in Joy
