About
Dr Hawthorne holds her PhD in Cancer Biology and Cellular Biology from The MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
She did her fellowship in Breast Medical Oncology studying breast cancer bone metastasis. After a career in clinical science she transferred into public and government affairs for medical reform and nutrition access. After over a decade as a registered lobbyist and director at regional non-profit, she enhanced her passion for her 25 year yoga practice by teaching at her local studio & served as Lead Yoga Teacher. She is certified in Vinyasa but has accreditations in Hatha, Bikr@m, Yin, Nidra & Trauma-Informed teaching. After leaving the studio in late 2025, she is excited to return to full-time practice after battling two concurrent cancer diagnoses, ironically bringing her journey full circle.By taking a break from teaching she hopes to gain more depth into the student experience including trauma-informed language, integrating modifications, and creating a more inclusive holistic practice.
