Vanessa has been practicing yoga for over years and teaching for She has an extensive background in teaching Dance and the Arts with a BA in Dance and an MALS from Hollins University as well as a MFA in Photo/Film from VCU In she graduated from the Richmond VA Integral Yoga® hr teacher training program taught by Nora ‘Vimala Pozzi I n she graduated with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy In she completed the hr Uttara Yoga Studio Advanced Yoga Teacher training-and is certified as a RYT and YACEP through the National Yoga Alliance She has worked full time as Occupational Therapist since and currently works in Roanoke City Schools and at Roanoke Memorial Hospital She is also a Certified Stroke Rehab Specialist and is fascinated by the nervous system She considers it a great blessing and honor to have been a part of the Uttara family since its inception in ! Vanessa has had the pleasure to explore a variety of teaching experiences including Integral Hatha Yin Vinyasa/Power Beginners Hot and childrens classes Whatever style she is teaching her instruction focuses on conscious use of the breath and bandhas anatomical awareness sensitivity to the energy body cultivating compassion for ourselves and others the bodys innate intelligence and awareness of the mind to access the healing power of the here and now She is a dancer at heart and enjoys working with organic movement throughout her class Vanessa is married to her best friend Bobby and they have beautiful children Orion and Elliana- both redheads!.
