Victoria first encountered yoga as an option for a high school gym class and later on as a supplement to cardio and marathon training.
Very quickly, she recognized both the strengthening and releasing that yoga provided; for both the body and the mind. The yoga sutras state “Practicing yoga with strength and in a relaxed manner gives rise to harmony with the physical body (asana)”. Victoria’s classes seek to guide each student’s body, mind and spirit to this personal place of sweetness, and strength, of equilibrium, and of bliss; while keeping the body safe, yet challenged; flowing yet meditative. Victoria received her training from YogaWorks. The principles of focusing on alignment and breathe, and incorporating props when needed, support the desire for all yogis to develop a practice that can grow over a lifetime. As a teacher and as a student, Victoria believes in the yogic principle of Non-violence; both to others and to one’s Self. As her teachers have taught her, by consistently bringing mindfulness, compassion, dedication and acceptance onto the mat, we can cultivate these off the mat as well.
