Yael Calhoun.
MA, MS, is currently registered with Yoga Alliance as a E-RYT and RCYT, which means that she completed the yoga teacher training at an active RYS. Yael Calhoun, E-RTY, MS, MA: Executive Director and Co-founder Yael is a long-time educator and author, with a strong background in sharing yoga as a body-based tool for the challenges of trauma recovery, pain management, refugees, stress, and compassion fatigue. She is a writer/series editor of over 20 books, DVDs/CDs, and training manuals, including yoga for trauma, pain management, children (typical and those with differing needs/autism), seniors, caregivers, and schools. She developed and then taught the trauma-informed yoga at the Salt Lake VA for 10 years, a program expanded to include pain management. Her recent science-based, practical books include Building Safety with Trauma-informed Yoga (Routledge, 2024); Trauma-informed Yoga for Pain Management (Singing Dragon Press, 2024); and Art and Yoga for Children with Differing Needs and Autism: Improve Body Awareness, Sensory Integration, and Emotional Regulation (Singing Dragon Press, 2025). Yael’s education includes an undergraduate degree from Brown University, a MA in Education from SCSU, and an MS from URI. In addition, Yael is an experienced certified yoga instructor (E-RYT) through Yoga Alliance and trained in Trauma Sensitive Yoga through the Trauma Center, Trauma Justice Institute.
